Hi, I'm Minh Bui!

I’m from Hanoi, Vietnam, and I moved to the U.S. in 2024 to start college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Back in high school, I went to Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, where I was in the Informatics class. I’ve always loved programming and math—I’ve been into advanced math since elementary school and started competitive programming in 10th grade using C++, which is still my favorite language.
In my first year at UW-Madison, I took several CS-related courses such as Java Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Discrete Mathematics, and Linear Algebra. I also like solving problems on Leetcode every day to practice and improve. It’s been exciting so far, and I’m looking forward to learning even more!

Projects

Green Air (Hanoi University of Science and Technology Artificial Intelligence Research Center)

  • Conceptualized and developed GreenAir, an innovative AI-powered mobile application that leverages smartphone camera images to predict PM2.5 levels, empowering users to make informed decisions about air quality.

  • Led a team of 5 in designing and deploying machine learning models, achieving a 90% accuracy in real-time air quality predictions, showcasing advanced data science capabilities.

  • Integrated deep learning algorithms with computer vision techniques using Python, and engineered the GreenAir application on iOS, delivering a seamless user experience and enhancing project’s societal impact.

  • Collected and labeled a dataset of 1200+ sky images, enabling robust training and optimization of machine learning models for enhanced prediction accuracy and reliability.

In-Person Campaigns (Biokind Analytics)

  • Utilized Python and R to clean, transform, and manipulate donation event data on 13+ datasets, ensuring accuracy and consistency for subsequent analyses.

  • Created effective visualizations using Python and R to communicate findings, such as including geospatial analyses with GeoPandas and Tableau to map donor distribution by region.

  • Analyzed donation event effectiveness through descriptive statistics and trend analysis, providing actionable insights to improve future campaigns.

Love Potion (Triott da Project)

  • Designed and developed a multi-phase game using GameMaker Language, featuring interactive multiple-choice questions to foster player engagement and meaningful interactions.

  • Implemented a matching algorithm to analyze player responses and match compatible players based on shared interests, significantly enhancing user engagement and satisfaction.

  • Directed the project life-cycle from concept to completion, employing iterative testing and feedback to ensure a seamless and enjoyable user experience.
